FAQs

Yes! We have many customers with colored treated hair that use our products. We use mild surfactants and clean ingredients that you can actually pronounce the names of. EarthSuds are vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, silicone-free, and phosphate-free. We don't use any synthetic ingredients that are known to strip color from your hair.

Do you know how much you pay on a per wash basis for shampoo? Most people don't. If you're using one of the big brands, you'll typically pay around $7 for a 250mL bottle, which comes out to around $0.30-0.40 per wash. If you're using a shampoo bar, you'll pay around $15 for a 2oz bar, which comes out to $0.40-0.60 per wash. If you're using a luxury brand, you'll typically pay upwards of $25 for a 250mL bottle, which comes out to >$1 per wash. EarthSuds are priced reasonably in the market, right in line with shampoo bars on a per wash basis.

EarthSuds are biodegradable and made from clean ingredients that are non-toxic to plant or aquatic life. If you have access to a shower or a facility with adequate drainage, it's always best to use them there. However, if you don't, you can use EarthSuds in streams or lakes in small concentrations.

1 tablet = 1 wash. They may be small, but each tablet packs a big punch! That's because liquid shampoo is 90% water and our tablets focus on the 10% active ingredients, so we're able to make them much more compact. Some customers say they only use half a tablet for their shorter hair. Other customers with long and thick hair say they use two tablets. It's up to you! One tablet is sufficient for most customers.

EarthSuds are designed to only dissolve with the combination of water AND friction, just like a bar of soap. Shower steam or wet hands alone won't cause the tablets to dissolve prematurely. The exterior of the tablet may become slippery but the tablets won't dissolve. To use a tablet, simply add water, rub it between your hands, and then apply the lather to your hair or body.

It is recommended to store the tablets in your EarthSuds tin or case. You can leave the tin on the shower ledge, or in a dry place such as your bathroom countertop.

You shouldn’t eat traditional soap and you shouldn’t eat EarthSuds. Although the tablets are non-toxic if consumed in small quantities, they are unpleasant to taste and digest. Keep out of the reach of young children. Do not ingest.
